The first day

Ask the studio when to arrive and where to meet your teacher before the first class. In Parent & Me the grown-up dances too, by design. For a first Creative Combo or Tiny Tumblers class, ask the teacher about staying in the room; viewing is at the teacher's discretion.

What to bring

a labeled water bottle; athletic clothes that allow a full range of motion; hair pulled back; bare feet, socks, ballet shoes, or jazz shoes. Dancers who are not yet fully potty trained should connect with Oakley before the first class; potty-trained dancers manage the restroom on their own, and parents are told about any accident (class details).

Tears at the door

common in September and usually gone within a few weeks; the teacher will tell you whether staying helps or prolongs it.
